Year 9, 10 & 11 Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics

This module continues the GCSE topic of Number and develops it further especially regarding Surds.

In addition to the algebraic topics taught at GCSE, Limiting Sequences, the Factor Theorem, Binomial Expansion, Solving Simultaneous Equations in 3 unknowns and Quadratic Inequalities are also covered and Functions are covered in more depth.

The content above GCSE involves work in Circles which are not centred purely at the origin.

This module is an Introduction to Differential Calculus and concentrates on finding and using the gradient and turning points of curves, as well as the maximum and minimum values of a function.

This module is an introduction to the topic of Matrices and concentrates on 1 x 2, 2 x 1, and 2 x 2 matrices only. We cover how these matrices can be multiplied and used in Matrix Transformations.

This module develops the material taught at GCSE and takes a more formal approach to geometrical proof. We also do more work on Trigonometry; we solve Trigonometric Equations with multiple solutions.
