Student will also examine issues related to the use of IT systems and the impact that they have on organisations and individuals.

EdExcel/ Pearson: Year 12 & 13 Unit 2: Creating Systems to Manage Information
The overall aim of this unit is to develop and understanding the importance databases play in the business environment. Students will examine the complexity of creating databases from scratch based around a given scenario. Students will need to plan, create and test their databases to ensure it fulfils the clients’ requirements. This is an examined unit which will last for 10 hours over a given period of time.

Students will explore different social media websites, the ways in which they can be used and the potential pitfalls when using them for business purposes. They will develop a plan to use social media strategies for business purposes to achieve specific aims and objectives. Finally, students will collect data on the business use of social media and review the effectiveness of your efforts.
EdExcel/ Pearson: Year 12 & 13 Unit 5: Data Modelling
In this unit, students will investigate the fundamentals of the decision-making process. They will find out how using data modelling provides the computational ability to compare consequences, and determine a preferred course of action. Consequently, students will develop their skills and techniques which are necessary to create complex spreadsheets in order to produce accurate information that informs decision making. All of this will be based around a given scenario which is led by the exam board.
