There is currently a lot of media speculation around the lifting of lockdown and the effects this will have on schools. While we are unable to provide any further details on September, we would like to take this opportunity to remind of our expectations. As a school our staff have worked tirelessly to maintain a safe learning environment for our students to enable them to have the best chance following lockdown. During this period we have had very little disruption compared to other school, which is as a result of the hard work and commitment shown by our students and our wider community to ensure everyone is safe.
Though there is talk of lockdown easing, there is growing evidence that rates are on the rise and this is driven by younger age groups. Many local schools are currently affected by bubble collapses which shows that the virus is in our community again.
To ensure our students and staff are as safe as possible we will continue to adhere to our COVID-19 guidelines which include strict cleaning, one way systems, no visitors and the use of face coverings. As a school we made the decision to continue the use of facemasks by student and staff in corridors, communal spaces and where social distancing isn’t possible.
To help us support our measures we ask that parents/carers ensure that students attend school daily with a face covering, which if material is regularly washed to prevent contamination. Where possible, we ask that students have a second mask available should theirs become lost or damaged. We also ask that students continue to carry out lateral flow tests (LFD) on Sunday and Wednesday and these results are submitted to the NHS and to the school. In recent weeks we have seen a decline in the number of tests being conducted by students which puts increased risk on our community.
We recognise how hard our parents/carers and students have worked to support us over the last 18 months and we thank everyone for their continued commitment and support.
