As you may be aware, the Environment Agency are forecasting significant rises in river levels peaking tomorrow afternoon. Worcestershire County Council Emergency Planning Department have been liaising with the relevant agencies and have informed the school that Bewdley Bridge will be closed shortly to both vehicles and pedestrians. The Environment Agency have been clear that any bridge closure is likely to be for more than just a single day, so making other transport arrangements may be more practical.

If students would normally walk this route, and parents/carers are not able to collect/drop them to school, parents/carers may wish to consider keeping them at home to work on school work. If parents/carers decide to keep their child(ren) at home it is essential that you inform the school via the absence line on 01299 406 828 or absence@bewdley.worcs.sch.uk

If parents/carers are collecting their child at the end of the day, please be aware that we are dealing with flooding onsite. The foot bridge between the school and the leisure centre is now inaccessible – this bridge along with the river path will be closed until further notice. Stourport Road is, under normal circumstances, extremely busy at the end of the day. We would therefore advise that if possible, students walks along the pavement adjacent to Stourport Road and meets parents/carers at Blackstone Picnic Area Car Park.

We will keep you updated with any further developments and please encourage students to stay safe during this period. In the meantime you can monitor the situation yourself via:
